1 Use Lukewarm water
If you have oily skin, the last thing you want to do is use cold water on your face. However, hot water is not recommended as well, so the last option you have available is lukewarm water. Studies have shown that lukewarm water has an increased capacity of absorbing oil, thus cleaning your pores and eliminating all the debris accumulated on the surface of the skin. So, if you are going for a deep cleansing effect, make sure to set the right temperature for the water, before washing your face.
2 Follow a Simple Three-step Cleanse, Tone and Moisturize Routine
No matter if it’s cold or warm outside, you still have to follow the three-step routine: cleanse, tone and moisturize. While it is true that you will use different products in the summer, you will have to follow the same steps. First of all, choose a herbal cleanser, preferably one that contains cucumber extract. Then, select a toner suitable for oily skin. Last, apply a lightweight moisturizer, recommended for summer wear.

3 Avoid excessive face washing
When your skin is excessively oily, it is only normal that you would want to wash your face more often. However, by doing so, you will actually strip the natural oils of the skin, forcing the sebaceous glands to produce even more sebum, as a method of compensation. So, make sure that you do not overdo it, as you will end up doing more harm than good.
4 Use a Face mask regularly
Just because it is warm outside, this does not mean you cannot resort to a facial mask. On the contrary, you can prepare one in the comfort of your own home, selecting ingredients that have a cleansing and soothing effect on the skin.
For example, you can prepare a yoghurt mask, adding a little bit of honey and rose water for better results. Or, you can prepare a face mask out of rice flour and turmeric, enjoying the exfoliating effect.
5 Use a Sunscreen formulated for oily skin
There are sunscreen lotions that are especially recommended for oily skin, having a lightweight formula. Don’t think that just because your skin produces excess sebum, you are actually better protected against the harmful action of UV rays. On the contrary, your skin is just as exposed to the risk of sunburn, photoaging and skin cancer. So, do not even think about going out, without wearing sunscreen, but make sure to pick one specially formulated for oily skin. See our picks below.
6 Wear Low-key makeup
No matter how tempting it might be to apply a lot of makeup on your face, during summer, it might be for the best to go with a minimum amount. The more makeup you apply, the worse your skin is going to look. Use makeup products that contain silicon, as these present a reduced risk of pore clogging. Moreover, they can actually protect the skin against acne breakouts and other similar problems.
7 Use Wet tissues
As it was already mentioned above, you do not want to wash your face too often. However, if you notice that you have too much oil built up, you might want to use wet tissues. These can be easily carried in your purse and they will help you obtain a fresh look within a matter of minutes. Moreover, they allow you to clean your face, whenever you do not have an opportunity to wash your face.
These are seven simple ways to manage oily skin and get through the summer, without feeling worried or anxious about your appearance. As you have seen, they are all logical and have one element in common: adapted skin care. If you have oily skin, you have to search for and use only products that are recommended for your particular skin type.
